Dr. William Budd, CEO

Dr. Budd is an experienced laboratory leader in molecular and clinical diagnostics. Educated at Virginia Commonwealth University, he holds a PhD in Integrative Life Sciences and a Masters in Bioinformatics. Following his post-doctoral fellowship in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at VCU, he spearheaded pivotal projects like sequencing the microbiome of vaginal samples. This endeavor led him to develop innovative diagnostic methods for vaginosis/vaginitis and urinary tract infections, addressing significant financial strains on the US healthcare system.

In 2020, at the helm of Compass Laboratory Services, Dr. Budd played a pivotal role in crafting one of the earliest PCR tests for the SARS-CoV2 virus. He actively collaborated with the Shelby County/Memphis COVID-19 Taskforce during the pandemic, ensuring widespread testing and paving the way for a PCR test to identify COVID-19 variants, crucial for community safety.

Dr. Budd is a frequent contributor to research publications and is a recognized researcher/presenter at national and international conferences.
